The Vilnius art space GODÒ Gallery continued its annual tradition and, for the fifth time in February, presented the group painting exhibition HEDONISM, exploring the role of hedonism in Lithuanian creativity. The exhibition was dedicated to the late painter Aleksandras Vozbinas in his memory.
The exhibition invited visitors to explore the relevance of hedonism in Lithuanian painting and how the theme of pleasure manifests in the artistic process and on the canvas—through themes, philosophical literary influences, moods, colors, textures, and more.
The artists featured in the 2025 HEDONISM exhibition: Vidmantas Jusionis, Linas Leonas Katinas, Vanda Padimanskaitė, Artūras Stančikas, Aušra Vaitkūnienė, and Aleksandras Vozbinas.
The late painter A. Vozbinas, to whom this exhibition is dedicated since its inception, once spoke about the joy of creativity in an interview:"When I start working, I don’t fully know what the outcome will be. I can only sense it, but then the initial assumptions change depending on the process itself. Painting is not about executing an idea from A to Z with complete precision. It is improvisation, jazz, a journey. That is where the joy of creation lies—the result is never predictable in advance. Even for the artist, it is a pleasure to be surprised and to discover something new."
