ALEKSANDRAS VOZBINAS EXHIBITION “LUST FOR LIFE” – IN DRUSKININKAI

The retrospective exhibition of Aleksandras Vozbinas is unique because it features not only a collection of works from the family archive but also pieces painted right here in Druskininkai. Having lived and worked here periodically, the artist grew to love this "city in the forest" and its unique aura.

Vozbinas’ paintings are rich with metaphor, "hidden thoughts," and the grotesque. The artist wittily interprets various motifs of daily life, often accompanied by bold, cheeky portraits of people and animals. This was the essence of Aleksandras -ironic, witty, colorful, and profoundly human.

As he once said: the same drama unfolds in every era; only the characters change, performing the same play generation after generation. The fragility of the individual in the face of destiny can be softened with a touch of irony and grotesque detail. It simply makes life more enjoyable...

Aleksandras Vozbinas worked with a vibrant palette, favoring intense reds, blues, and greens. His creative output is infused with Epicurean and hedonistic notes, vibrating with a true "Lust for Life" (Gyvenimo geismas).
